What's this blog about?

Well, we are a bunch of pastor's wives from Minnesota who want to encourage and support other pastor's wives. We meet together on a regular basis for friendship and prayer. Our desire and purpose is to pray for our marriages, families, ministiries, and each other!

Being married to a pastor is filled with amazing blessings and amazing stresses. You are NOT alone! Our prayer is that you find support and feel loved as you travel down the road that God has for YOU!

Welcome Back, Ladies!

Well, thanks for letting me take some time off to care for my mother-in-law.  I learned a lot about my God and myself..  Her passing reminded me of how our world is always changing but our God never changes.  Amen!

Hey, let me remind you that we are meeting at my house on Monday, February 21st, 2011.  We'll be chatting and praying while our kids are chatting and playing.  Feel free to come over from 9:15am to 11:15am.  Yes, your kids are welcome to come along.

We are also getting together for a fun time of fellowship at Applebee's NW on Sunday, February 13th, 2011 at 9pm.

Let's remember to keep each other (kids, pastors, youth groups, churches, communities) in your prayers.  See you all soon!

Here's a retreat for YOU!

For I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established; that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other's faith, both yours and mine. (Romans 1:11-12)

Hi friends:

Ministry is the most wonderful, exhausting, frustrating, rewarding, exciting, obnoxious, fun, meaningful, creative, thankless, enjoyable, fantastic job on the planet. We all need good times with good friends who truly understand ministry life. We need each other to stay encouraged, renewed, resting in the Lord. And we all need soul care to be sure that our heads, hearts and hands are all following hard after God.

No matter what life holds right now, Psalm One Ministries invites you to join us Saturday, June 26 for a “Sisterhood of the Fishbowl” Pastors' Wives Gathering in Sycamore, IL (about 90 minutes west of Chicago). Make plans now to treat yourself to some friendship, challenge and encouragement. Come join us for a refreshing and renewing day of input, support, laughter, celebrating! We will have some life-giving time with the Lord as well as a chance to share what life is bringing you right now.

We center in on three areas:

· Reconnecting with God--Ministry can sometimes keep us from really enjoying our walk with Jesus. It has been said that the pastor's wife is the only person in the church without a pastor. Come and revel in some non-ministry, non-"churchy", life-giving time with the Lord!

· Restoring your soul--Could you use some healing laughter? Have lost yourself in the busyness of life? Do you need a little soul care to rediscover yourself? How can we implement strategies and patterns to keep us healthy and happy in the busyness of our lives?

· Resourcing--I am part of the Caregivers Forum, an international network of people who minister to people in ministry. Whether you or your friends are seeking time away with your husband, intensive counseling, encouragement in your challenges, whatever--we have some invaluable resources to support you and your family in ministry.

We'll meet from 10 to 4 in a very beautiful home with lots of special touches just for you. This is a casual day with some fabulous, real women--no "Stepford Wives" allowed. Wonderful breakfast goodies and a great lunch and various materials will be provided. There is no set cost for this retreat, but if the Lord directs, you may make a tax-deductible donation to the ongoing work of Psalm One Ministries. Bring your Bible, a journal and a heart ready to connect with God and others.

Take a break and be renewed. It's the kind of thing we think we can't afford to do, but in reality, we can't afford not to! This is open to all women whose husbands are full-time pastors, so invite fellow PW’s. RSVP by June 12 to Linda Kline by phone (513-226-0025) or email.

When’s the last time someone planned a day just to encourage you? Come and receive some refreshing!

In His love,
Linda

P.S. While you have that calendar out, mark October 22-24 for the Psalm One Wisconsin Pastors’ Wives Retreat. I hope to have complete details to you soon. This is a small, intimate retreat in a very special setting, so sign up as soon as possible once the invitation arrives. CareGivers Forum

Check out a recently added resource to our blog!

http://caregiversforum.org/index.htm

Here is a paragraph taken off their website:

"Forum is an annual gathering of people from across the United States and elsewhere who are involved in the ministry of caring for professional Christian workers and their families. The Forum provides opportunity for personal relationships, professional networking and shared learning.

The Forum began in 1989 as a venue for ministry leaders to gather and share their concerns and visions. Over the years it has evolved into a network of like-minded people concerned about supporting each other in "ministering to ministers."

Don't forget to check out their "directory".  It has LOTS of wonderful places that desire to minister to YOU and your family!

Just Between Us Magazine

Just Between Us is a magazine for Christian Women with a heart for ministry offering encouragement, inspiration, spiritual support, and practical advice.  If you like reading then this magazine is for you.  I have been given a subscription (from my wonderful mother-in-law, Linda!) for probably 6 years now.  I really enjoy getting this because everything in it's pages...applies to me.  Check it out at:

http://www.justbetweenus.org/pages/page.asp?page_id=100499

"Twenty years ago God took international speaker and author Jill Briscoe’s dream for a tool for women with a heart for ministry and made it a reality. His stamp of faithfulness is evident in every issue as we have sought to be a friend to you who so faithfully and tirelessly empty yourselves on behalf of others every day.

I still remember sitting at my kitchen table working frantically to put the finishing touches on our premier issue, published in the summer of 1990. Then, just as now, we set out to address the joys and challenges of women with heart for ministry in a practical and honest way – and to come into your lives as your trusted friend.

Being almost a completely reader-written publication, I recall thinking, “Will we have enough articles to choose from, and how will we ever fill all of the pages?” Amazingly, in my 20 years as editor, we have never experienced a shortage of articles. We have covered topics on:

Friendship in Ministry
Marriage
Raising Kids Who Love the Lord
Deepening Your Relationship with Christ
Dealing with Difficult People
Handling the Stresses of Ministry
How to Handle Leaving a Church

JBU is about women who share the same joys and struggles ministering to one another through the written word. And the importance of that kind of sharing is immeasurable because surveys continue to show that 44 percent of women with a heart for ministry have no trusted friend, and 30 percent have no person they can go to for support. The friendship need has not changed and continues to make the top of our “needs” list every time we survey our readers. JBU has attempted to make a difference by letting women know on a regular basis that they have some friends who are pulling and praying for them, and who understand because they have been there."

They also recently started a Just Between Us Blog.  It also has very helpful advice and has many encouraging/challenging articles too.
