What's this blog about?

Well, we are a bunch of pastor's wives from Minnesota who want to encourage and support other pastor's wives. We meet together on a regular basis for friendship and prayer. Our desire and purpose is to pray for our marriages, families, ministiries, and each other!

Being married to a pastor is filled with amazing blessings and amazing stresses. You are NOT alone! Our prayer is that you find support and feel loved as you travel down the road that God has for YOU!

Wednesday's "Wife if the Week" - Thoughts and Recipe

These are my little blessings.  :)

I really dislike cooking. It's not something that I am passionate about at all. Although, I LOVE making desserts. So, it was tough to pick ONE recipe to share. Mark and I are always trying to find new ways of getting our kids to eat more healthy foods. So, this recipe is what our kids refer to as the "Healthy Cookies". :) It has no refined sugar and no butter/oil.

"Healthy Cookies"

  • 1 Cup Oats

  • 1/2 Cup Honey

  • 1/2 Cup Raisins or Craisins

  • 1 tsp Vanilla

  • 1/4 Cup Dry (Powdered) Milk

  • 1/2 Cup Whole Wheat Flour

  • 2 tsp Cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda

  • 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
Mix all the ingredients together. Use a greased baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes.
(Tips: These are supposed to be bigger cookies. They suggest that you use a 1/4 measuring cup to form cookie balls. If you want to make smaller cookies...adjust your baking time accordingly. Otherwise you will end up with "rock cookies". Also, the dough is quite sticky. So, you should gently press the cookies down a little bit with a wet spatula before baking.)

What Has Jenny Learned?

I have only been married to a pastor for 9 years and I have much to learn. So, I wouldn't necessarily call anything I have to say..."advice". Although, I have learned a few lessons along the way that have stretched and challenged me. Those times aren't always easy but I do try and grow from them.

1. Your family should always come FIRST. No one knows better what your kids (and husband) need than you do. Protect them.
2. Stop complaining about being too busy. Do something about it.
3. Don't put anyone on a pedestal. Staff (and lay people, parents, youth) are sinners...just like you. Don't be surprised if they stumble.
4. God will use you if you let him. It doesn't matter if it's in a flashy church role or a plain behind the scenes role. We can even be used in our own neighborhoods and in our kid's schools.
